Annett Kaufmann is the newcomer of the year. The 18-year-old table tennis player won three gold medals at the European Youth Championships this year and, together with the women’s national team, is European team champion in the adult division.
Annett Kaufmann only got into table tennis last year, having previously played badminton for six years. This year, however, she has already established herself as one of the best German table tennis players. At the European Youth Championships, she won the gold medal in the individual competition, the silver medal in doubles with her partner Lena Oberdorf and the bronze medal in mixed with Laurens Devos from the Netherlands.
Annett Kaufmann has also moved up the youth Olympic ranks and qualified to take part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. There she will compete as the youngest German participant in the games and hopes to win a medal.
