Erwin Berg, a good friend and player of Tibor, joined TIBHAR Tibor Harangozo Ltd. in 1973. Erwin, a former Bundesliga player, was very successful in his table tennis career. He started playing table tennis at 16, but soon became one of the best players in Germany. His first big club was ATSV Saarbrücken (then a first division team). Later in his career, he switched to 1.FC Saarbrücken TT. At that time, he combined his work in coal mining with his work at the TIBHAR Company. As TIBHAR was growing fast, Tibor naturally asked Erwin if he could imagine taking a full-time job at TIBHAR. Although Erwin had a good and secure job in coal mining and a family with two small children, he decided to make the switch. Looking back, it was certainly a very courageous decision. If you ask Erwin today why he made this decision, he only says: “I don’t know exactly. It seemed wrong, but it felt right“ !
