2014 marks an un-expected turning-point at the European team championships in Lisboa: After six successive titles, Germany has to admit defeat against the host country Portugal in a heart-beating finale on 28 September. During the group phase, the team supported by TIBHAR nearly went out of the tournament; then came a sensational twist to the game of the Portuguese players who ended up defeating the great favorite with 3:1. In the course of the tournament, Marcos Freitas had to play one single only; in the end it is him who wins the decisive point and defeats Timo Boll in the final match with 11:9 in the fourth set.
